PRINCIPLES

Arnold Nemetz founded Arnold Nemetz & Associates Ltd. in 1963 and remains the  firm's President. A graduate of the University of B.C. with a Bachelor  of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering, Arnold Nemetz served as an electrical engineer with Domino Electric Ltd. from 1954 to 1963 before launching his own professional electrical engineering consulting company. While the initial emphasis was on high-rise building projects, the company evolved to include lighting for projects ranging from hotels to food stores to government installations to alpine and other outdoor resorts. In addition to power design the company also assists with lighting design, security and communications.

In striking out on his own Arnold Nemetz was a pioneer of sorts in that he served as a contractor before moving on to consulting.  Today, the majority of designers at Arnold Nemetz & Associates have a background in electrical contracting, which assists greatly in providing solutions to design problems and on-site proficiency.

Today, Arnold Nemetz remains committed to the basics of service and detail that were the founding hallmarks of Arnold Nemetz & Associates back in 1963. As the firm's founder he brings to the office an impressive array of knowledge and experience that has contributed to the electrical engineering and design of such notable projects as the Bank of Hong Kong building, Metrotown Centre, Harbour Cove and Lansdowne Civic Centre renovation in Ottawa.

Steve Nemetz joined the firm in 1983 and currently serves as Vice-President of Arnold Nemetz & Associates Ltd. while undertaking duties as President of the newly-formed Nemetz S/A Associates. He graduated from the University of B.C. with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and brings to the company an enthusiastic, yet thorough approach to meeting client needs. Service and quality remain his top priorities as he oversees the ongoing operation of the business.

In his capacity as a principal and partner of the company, Steve Nemetz has supervised all facets of electrical design for a diverse and extensive list of projects, including Shaw tower, Concord Village Community, Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, Hampton Place at the University of B.C., Whistler Market Pavilion, Wall Centre, Bayshore Gardens and Collingwood Village. Seeking innovation, while dedicated to maintaining the firm's leading technological edge, he strives to ensure each project is also approached with a commitment to the detail, utility and schedule required by each client.

Under the leadership of Steve Nemetz the company has also expanded its client base to include projects throughout Canada, the United States and Asia.

Ray Wong joined Arnold Nemetz & Associates as a principal in 1995 after serving as president of Wong-Sokulski Engineering Ltd for 17 years. A graduate of the University of Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, he has worked as an electrical design engineer and chief electrical engineer in addition to serving as a lecturer at the Manitoba Institute of Technology and the University of Manitoba's Interior Design School and School of Architecture.

Ray Wong's unique ability to bring light and life to architectural drawings has resulted in recognition for his outstanding work, including Canadian National I.E.S. Awards for his work on the Winnipeg Art Galley and the Manitoba Theatre Centre.

In addition to lighting designs, Ray Wong has employed his expertise in the design of electrical systems for a variety of projects, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, the B.C.
